I have not had much opportunity to post for awhile. Thankfully after a chaotic week that included several days in the emergency vet clinic for bacterial hepatitis, a few hours in the vet to be tested for cushings disease, that ended up with two more days holding our breath due to a near deadly adrenal crisis, and just in time to move from one temporary home to the next, Happy was on the mend.
With Happy on the mend and a place to live for the next few weeks we turned back to the important task of searching for a house. I wish I could say that we found one that was not a budget buster, but in this market, at least in our neck of the woods, finding an affordable home that is not a total wreck seems like the impossible dream.
If we were not enjoying the house search, Happy certainly was. Now that his liver was feeling a bit better, he was back to his travel loving self. And while most of the human members of his family groaned at the thought of having to get into the car to spend another long afternoon house hunting, Happy and his aunt were all smiles. All they needed was a whisper of a need to go out and they were urging us out the door.
If it were not for the need to spend hours searching for a permanent place to live, the last couple of weeks might have felt like a mini vacation. We were so delighted to see the smile on Happy’s face as he enjoyed a long ride or his favorite past time of harassing my sister.
How long this breath will last is now up for debate after Happy, who unfortunately lost his sight due to the side effects of diabetes made worse by his undiagnosed cushing’s, walked right off the sofa and terrified us by doing a complete back flip after his head hit the tile floor. Thankfully he got up a few seconds later and walked around the room. The accident appears to be more dramatic looking than it actually was. But to be on the safe side my mother and sister decided to take him to the vet to make certain that he nothing really bad happened.
While we wait to see what happens with the house inspection and appraisal, here is a cute short of Happy at our old house a few months before losing his site.

Got something to say? Go for it!
